Using an evaluation disc is not a calibration. Hate to be that guy but it needs to be said. Spears & Munsil state this quite plainly.
Second, when adjusting the SDR settings like this it can throw off the HDR settings. You must have HDR content actually displayed on the screen to make adjustments to HDR settings. You'll know this by the HDR icon that will show in the upper right hand corner of the picture adjustment menu.
For these reasons I leave most settings at their factory default with the exception of choosing the picture mode, color temp, brightness and contrast. When you adjust things like contrast enhancer, black adjust, live color, those settings will transfer from SDR to HDR and it can become a mixed bag. Generally turning all that stuff off is the best course of action if you really want to get the most accurate picture. Which is what a true calibration is all about.
I'd be curious to see your settings based on the "Custom" mode, as "Game" mode will set the foundation of your settings differently. Thank you for your time showing us this information, but I don't feel that Gaming Mode as the "foundation" setting will be as good for normal TV, movie watching as the "Custom Mode". Please consider a video of this and maybe telling us about any differences you observe. Thank you much and look forward to more on this TV.
A traditional but essential perspective to look at these products while it's a bit ironic that we still need to adjust the settings even for the latest devices.
Lowering black level crushes the blacks and shadows for me.. so I set it higher like 55 or 60 so I can see more on dark scenes.. Also, advanced contrast enhancement set to high brightens the image but lose a bit of color detail so I set it to low or medium..
Hi Steve, do you if theres any way i can remove the ghosting for most of my ps5 games on this TV? it may be just me because my PC monitor has 0 response time so i maybe more sensitive to ghosting.
I bought this TV set. If set the virtual sound sound on in the sound option and switch to game mode will it override it? It’s grayed out with game mode enabled.
I bought one a few weeks back fully intending to exchange for the x90j when it was available at my local bestbuy but honestly I'm really happy with it for the PS5. Looks great and I've had no lag/tearing issues at all. Thanks for the calibration video. Really helped.
These are great for visual effects. But in reality most gamers want the best settings for least lag as possible. Maybe another video for those settings?
I have ps5 and i get crazy input lag when playing online on 2k22. It will shoot late or very late for no reason and i have to play in graphics mode as game mode is to slow and it will shoot to early. I have a feeling there is an input lag issue with this tv and it is not good for ps5. I have a 75" not sure if thats the propblem or it also could be because hdmi is only 2.0 not 2.1
Steve, just got a ps5 and was so frustrated with the hdr thank you so much for your video. Man your the best been following your channel for a while and its been amazing.
@TechSteve I use Sony TV (KD-55X7500H) using a computer to browse, watch movies, and play games sometimes. Is there a special setting for the computer user?

It would have been nice if you had provided a "before the settings change gaming sample".
