Samsung QN70F Review: Entry-Level Neo QLED With Serious Gaming Features
The 2025 Samsung QN70F is the entry point into Samsung’s Neo QLED Mini LED lineup. It combines a native 120 Hz panel, verified 4K input at up to 144 Hz, four gaming-capable HDMI inputs, HDR10+ and a compact center stand. Tech Steve found balanced color, good black levels, smooth 60 fps motion and solid screen uniformity, although low-resolution sources looked blocky and the built-in 20-watt audio was limited. Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and an ATSC 3.0 tuner are not included.
Video summary
Tech Steve presents the QN70F as a middle-of-the-road option for shoppers who want Samsung Mini LED technology without moving up to the more expensive QN80F or QN90F. Movie mode was his preferred picture preset, while AI mode produced a cooler image and sometimes reduced visible highlight detail. Standard mode worked well for everyday television and sports, though broadcast quality varied by channel. In testing, 24 fps material showed slight trailing, while 60 fps motion looked smooth. Screen uniformity appeared solid apart from minor light bleed, and the TV produced good black levels and strong color saturation. Upscaling improved substantially with 1080p and 4K sources, but 480p material remained visibly blocky. Gaming support was a highlight, with VRR, console support up to 4K 120 Hz and PC input up to 4K 144 Hz. The built-in audio was described as limited, making a soundbar a sensible addition.
Tech Steve Takeaway
The QN70F is a practical Samsung choice for shoppers who want Mini LED contrast, strong color and a complete 4K gaming feature set without paying for the QN80F or QN90F. Use Movie mode as a natural starting point, feed it high-quality 1080p or 4K content, and budget for a soundbar if audio matters.
Picture quality
Tech Steve observed balanced colors, good black levels and strong color saturation, although he stopped short of calling the blacks the deepest he had seen. Screen uniformity looked solid overall, with only slight light bleed visible in the test pattern. The NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor can upscale older material, but 480p content still appeared blocky; 1080p and especially 4K sources delivered a much cleaner image. Movie mode provided his preferred presentation, while Standard mode was suitable for everyday television.
HDR performance
The QN70F supports HDR10, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10+ Gaming and HLG, but not Dolby Vision. Tech Steve found that HDR10+ could look somewhat flatter than SDR depending on the content. He preferred Movie mode over AI processing in his HDR example because AI mode appeared to reduce some background highlight detail. Official peak-brightness figures are not published for the series.
Gaming performance
Gaming is one of the QN70F’s strongest areas. Its physical panel is native 120 Hz, and all four HDMI inputs are specified to accept 3840 x 2160 at up to 144 Hz from a compatible gaming PC. Consoles can use 4K at 120 Hz, while VRR, ALLM, HGiG, HDR10+ Gaming and FreeSync Premium Pro are supported. Samsung’s Game Bar provides access to Black Equalizer, an aiming point and additional game settings. Game Motion Plus can adjust blur and judder, while LED Clear Motion may improve motion clarity at the cost of a darker picture. Samsung Gaming Hub also supports cloud gaming with a Bluetooth controller and compatible subscription service.
Motion handling
Sports and everyday motion looked good in Standard mode. A 24 fps test showed slight trailing and some uneven movement, while the 60 fps test appeared smooth without obvious trailing. Motion processing is available, but stronger settings can change the cinematic character of movies, and LED Clear Motion reduces image brightness.
Sound quality
The built-in system is a 20-watt, two-channel design with Object Tracking Sound Lite, Adaptive Sound+ and Active Voice Amplifier. Tech Steve found the internal audio limited. The TV supports HDMI eARC, optical digital output and Bluetooth audio, while Q-Symphony can combine the TV speakers with a compatible Samsung soundbar. Dolby Atmos is not listed as a built-in feature.
Smart TV experience
The QN70F runs Samsung’s One UI Tizen platform with streaming apps, Samsung TV Plus and Gaming Hub. Its AI features can surface information about actors and related programs while watching supported content. Apple AirPlay, Amazon Alexa and Samsung Bixby are supported, and the TV can work with compatible Google Assistant speakers. Connectivity includes Ethernet, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3.
Calibration notes
Movie mode is the strongest starting point for a natural-looking image based on Tech Steve’s demonstrations. Standard mode is useful for daily television and sports, while Dynamic mode produces more aggressive brightness and highlights. AI processing visibly changes the image and can reduce warmth or highlight detail, so it should be compared with Movie mode rather than enabled automatically. Eco mode prioritizes reduced energy use. No numerical calibration settings apply universally across every room, source and screen size.

Tech Steve verdict
The Samsung QN70F is best suited to gamers and everyday viewers who want an affordable entry into Samsung’s Mini LED lineup. Its native 120 Hz panel, 4K 144 Hz PC capability across all four HDMI inputs, VRR support and useful Game Bar make it particularly attractive for mixed console and PC gaming. Movie mode, strong color and respectable black levels also make it a capable streaming TV when paired with good 1080p or 4K sources. The tradeoffs are limited built-in sound, no Dolby Vision, no built-in Dolby Atmos and weak results with very low-resolution material. The 55- and 65-inch versions are the easiest fits for typical rooms, the 75-inch emphasizes immersion, and the 85-inch adds Supersize Picture Enhancer for large-room viewing.
