LG QNED75B Review: Affordable Mini LED for Darker Rooms
The 2026 LG QNED75B is an affordable 4K Mini LED television offered from 43 to 85 inches. It delivers appealing color, solid perceived contrast and useful gaming features, but its 60 Hz panel, modest HDR presentation, visible reflections and limited off-angle performance make it best suited to bedrooms and living spaces with controlled lighting.
Video summary
Tech Steve evaluated a 55-inch QNED75B sample with movies, picture modes, motion tests, low-resolution content and room-lighting checks. He found the color and overall contrast impressive for the price, especially with 4K material, but observed lost shadow detail, a hazy black appearance in dark-room tests, slight blooming and some blotchy screen uniformity near the sides. HDR appeared slightly brighter than SDR without becoming especially bright. Reflections were clearly visible, and the picture lost detail and took on a glow when viewed from the side. Native 24 fps motion looked somewhat jittery, although LG's TruMotion controls could smooth it at the risk of introducing the soap-opera effect. The TV handled 60 fps motion smoothly, while 1080p and 4K sources looked substantially cleaner than very low-resolution material. He also noted remote-control lag, the absence of an included Magic Remote and promotional screensaver content within the smart-TV experience.
Tech Steve Takeaway
Buy the LG QNED75B if you want an inexpensive Mini LED TV for a bedroom, garage, children's room or moderately dark living room. Its color and 4K movie presentation are attractive for the price, but shoppers with bright rooms, wide seating arrangements or a need for 4K/120 Hz gaming should move up to a brighter, faster television.
Picture quality
The QNED75B combines a 3840 x 2160 LCD panel with a Mini LED backlight and LG's Dynamic QNED Color system. Tech Steve found its colors convincing and its perceived contrast surprisingly good for an affordable model. Native 4K content produced the cleanest image, while 1080p also scaled well. A 720p source looked noticeably sharper than very low-resolution content, which remained blurry. On the tested 55-inch sample, dark scenes could lose shadow detail, black backgrounds sometimes developed a light haze, and uniform gray or white screens revealed mild blotchiness near the sides. Reflections and off-angle picture degradation further favor centered seating in a light-controlled room.
HDR performance
Official HDR support covers HDR10 and HLG, with LG's HDR10 Pro processing applying Dynamic Tone Mapping to HDR10 material. Tech Steve found HDR slightly brighter than SDR, but not bright enough to create a highly impactful presentation in a room with substantial ambient light. HDR movies were more convincing in a dark room. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ are not included in the official BUA format list.
Gaming performance
The physical panel runs at a native and maximum 60 Hz at 4K. Gaming support includes VRR up to 60 Hz, ALLM, HGiG, Game Dashboard and Game Optimizer. Tech Steve's 60 fps motion test appeared smooth, making the TV suitable for conventional 60 fps console gaming. It cannot display native 4K at 120 Hz, so it is not the right choice for players prioritizing high-frame-rate PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or PC gaming.
Motion handling
Native 24 fps material showed some visible judder on the tested sample. LG's TruMotion presets made camera movement smoother, and the user control allowed judder reduction to be adjusted manually. Stronger settings can introduce a soap-opera effect, so a moderate custom setting is the better compromise for viewers sensitive to cinematic judder. Motion at 60 fps appeared smooth.
Sound quality
The QNED75B uses a down-firing 2.0-channel speaker system. AI Sound Pro can create a virtual 9.1.2-channel presentation, while Clear Voice Pro and Auto Volume Leveling are available for dialogue and level management. The built-in system is adequate for everyday television, but an external soundbar or surround system with rear speakers is recommended for a more immersive movie experience. HDMI 2 supports eARC, and WOW Orchestra can synchronize the TV speakers with a compatible LG soundbar.
Smart TV experience
webOS 26 provides streaming apps, LG Channels, Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Matter support and compatible Google Home control. Game Optimizer, LG Gallery+ and LG Shield are also integrated. Tech Steve noticed some lag while navigating with the remote and disliked promotional content appearing when the television entered its screensaver state. The BUA package includes a standard remote; LG's point-and-scroll AI Magic Remote is optional.
Calibration notes
Tech Steve preferred Standard mode for brighter everyday viewing and suggested Cinema for viewers comfortable with a darker movie image. Cinema Home produced a warmer presentation, while Vivid looked cooler and brighter. FILMMAKER MODE offers a more cinema-oriented image, and the available ISF mode appeared slightly different from FILMMAKER MODE in the demonstrated scene. TruMotion can be customized to reduce 24 fps judder, but aggressive settings may create unnaturally smooth motion.
What we like
- Mini LED backlighting is available across all six screen sizes, providing an affordable entry into LG's QNED lineup.
- Dynamic QNED Color produced appealing, generally accurate-looking color in Tech Steve's movie demonstrations.
- 4K and 1080p sources looked clean, making the TV a practical match for modern streaming services and Blu-ray content.
- VRR up to 60 Hz, ALLM, HGiG and Game Optimizer simplify setup for conventional 60 fps console gaming.
- Apple AirPlay and Google Cast support accommodate both major mobile ecosystems.
- HDMI eARC and WOW Orchestra provide flexible options for adding a compatible soundbar.
What to consider
- The native 60 Hz panel cannot display games at 4K/120 Hz, limiting its appeal for high-frame-rate console and PC gaming.
- HDR appeared modest rather than highly impactful, particularly in rooms with substantial ambient light.
- The tested 55-inch sample lost some dark-scene shadow detail and showed a light haze and slight blooming against black backgrounds.
- Visible reflections and weaker off-axis detail make the TV less suitable for bright rooms or wide seating arrangements.
- Only three HDMI inputs and one USB port are provided, which may require an external switch for larger entertainment systems.
- The official BUA HDR list includes HDR10 and HLG but does not include Dolby Vision or HDR10+.
- The standard BUA package does not include LG's point-and-scroll AI Magic Remote, and Tech Steve noticed some navigation lag.
- Promotional content can appear during the webOS screensaver experience.
Tech Steve verdict
The LG QNED75B offers Mini LED backlighting, attractive color, useful 60 Hz gaming features and broad streaming support at accessible prices across six sizes. Its strongest fit is movie and everyday television viewing in a bedroom or moderately dark living room, where reflections and limited brightness are less distracting. The tradeoffs are a native 60 Hz ceiling, HDR10 and HLG without officially listed Dolby Vision, only three HDMI inputs, an optional Magic Remote and picture limitations that include shadow-detail loss, slight blooming, unevenness on uniform screens and weaker off-angle viewing on the tested 55-inch sample. Buy it for affordable big-screen 4K viewing rather than premium HDR impact or 4K/120 Hz gaming.
