How To Setup the 3rd Gen Echo Dot plus App Tour
Echo Dot is our most popular voice-controlled speaker, now with improved sound and a new design.
Ask Alexa to play music, answer questions, read the news, check the weather, set alarms, control compatible smart home devices, and more.
Stream songs from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, and others through the improved speaker for richer and louder sound.
Call and message almost anyone hands-free. Instantly drop in on other rooms in your home or make an announcement to every room with a compatible Echo device.
Alexa is always getting smarter and adding new skills like tracking fitness, playing games, and more.
Can hear you from across the room. And with compatible Echo devices in different rooms, you can fill your whole home with music.
Pair with a second Echo Dot (3rd gen) for stereo sound, or connect to your own speakers over Bluetooth or with a 3.5 mm audio cable.
Use your voice to turn on lights, adjust thermostats, lock doors, find TV shows, and more with compatible connected devices.

  1. Hi Steve. I noticed alexa amazon app is not available in the Philippines. Do you know what application to use so I will be able to set up my echo dot 3rd gen here using my Android phone? Your prompt reply will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  2. thank you for very informative video, i try to setup communication but its not working it come out setup its say verify your phone number and i entry my number but i am not getting code .

  3. I had to stop the video because my echo spot with the wake up word computer (with a British accent I might add) kept waking up. I will send the link to my sister. I got her a dot for Christmas. She is a college student and is excited about the endless possibilities.

  4. Wow! I'd been so frustrated with my new clock radio because it seemed to disregard my requests and do its own thing. example: I would ask it to turn on NPR and it would say "this is a station you've been listening to a lot lately" and then it would turn on spotify. I've never listened to spotify. After watching your video I realized that I was saying "Alexis instead of Alexa." When I tried again with the right command it responded correctly right away.

  5. Is there a feature or function which allows you to upgrade to echo dot 3rd generation from echo dot 2nd generation where the new device gets all the settings from the old device? If you cannot do this why. I agree that replacing the charger and cable which was a standard generic cable to a proprietary one was NOT a good thing. Why aren't companies less greedy and more responsible?

  6. Thanks Steve for this information. I'm currently waiting to receive 2 echo dot 3rd generation (one is for my mom) as it is on back order. In the meantime, I've been getting familiar with the Alexa app and watching videos on You Tube, like yours, that are very helpful. I will share your video with my mom. 🙂

  7. I had no idea I'd love Alexa so much – I wake up in the morning and she does the routine I've set up, and she's so comforting and useful and fun overall. My husband and I played Skills trivia games for hours last night. If we had kids it would be even more super useful (kids workouts, stories, games) – we even had a goodnight story read to us by Alexa and it was awesome. I'm really loving it. The Echo Dot itself is pretty great – the sound quality is pretty good, the bass when turned up is not that great, but if you really want to rock out you can connect it to other speakers or just use something else instead. I'm really surprised by how much I like the Alexa app (and the Echo Dot), because I'm a little resistant to technology, but it's pretty easy to figure out and feels like a new little buddy in the home. I'm excited to get some SmartHome stuff now so I can turn on/off lights, heat, etc. The only tiny issue I have is that for some reason Alexa doesn't pick up my husband's voice as much as it does mine – maybe because I've used it more? Really cool, though, overall – I feel like Judy Jetson!

  8. My echo dot keeps saying it's not registered
I phoned Amazon and they said it wasn't registered
    Why won't it register
I use Amazon music unlimited on my phone
Just really puzzled why it won't register and stopped working
