Not everyone has kids so that’s not a feature necessary for everyone, and if you’re parenting right, you’re the parental control, not some TV. So…maybe turn down the snark a bit and just review the products.
Also, if you’re REALLY wanting to protect your children, maybe DON’T include them in videos published online? Eh, call me old fashioned…

That profiles choice was bugging me since nobody lives with me. It was just one more click I had to do before I could choose something to watch that I didn’t have to do before that update. I managed to find that option to default to mine just a couple weeks ago.

How can I control the volume through the iPhone remote control app? It just does not work!
FaceTime on the Apple TV would be so much better if you can add a camera to the tv that is specifically for face time that you can hide behind the tv folding it down when not using it.
Adding to this, you can also use your HomePods as a HomeCinema when connected to the eARC HDMI ports.
