My 2005 FHD Samsung mid-range TV look almost as good as my 2020 4K Philips low-end TV. Main difference is the huge pixel size of the FHD TV looking jarring in comparison to today's 4K TVs' tiny pixels. Maybe coz I sit near my TVs, 75" is the biggest I'll go for 4K TVs coz I can see the pixels from 82" onward.
I love older tv-s. Getting them used for 80-120$ is a pretty sick deal and they do the job. I feel like the tv-s that are 10-15 years old are much more durable than the new ones.
Tech Steve I'm seeing more reviewers picking up the pace on similar comparisons like you have been doing recently!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK THIS IS THE TYPE OF VIDEOS THE PUBLIC NEEDS!!
Too bad you didn't have kdl46ex500 from 2010. I had that tv for a long time, but it got lost in a move. I think it had a better picture for watching movies then alot of new tvs today. That was a 1000 can back then so you can get alot of tv for a grand today.
You made an ad for the old tv model, it has a nicer picture, better colors and less faint than the new one. I was just interested in this newer model, but I see that it is better to buy a model on the VA matrix.
I still own a Sony 40 inch kdl-r380b. It's still going strong and has a great picture for its age…I just bought the Sony X80J 43 inch (IPS panel) and a Sony X80J 50 inch (VA panel) and am still working on calibrating them. The Sony 50 inch with the VA panel is the better of the two. Both are a pretty good TVs for their price range. I wish both got brighter for HDR but are still a great TVs for their price.
Just because the older TV doesn't have game mode it shouldn't be compared to the X80J outside of game mode. It doesn't make any sense cause anyone who games on the X80J should utilize game mode.
I got to be honest, I never use the game setting for games I always thinked it looked better on vivid. So it is defintiely better to use gaming mode? I mostly play snowrunner, not a big gamer, also older xbox 360 games like perfect dark. BTW I had the 65 inch version of that newer one, I gave it to my mum as I have and KE65XH81 and I thought it looked better than the KD6580J…but got another one of these comging but 55 inch version on Tuesday. The reason why I thought the 65 inch was making me dizzy when I played it in the second room. I think the 55 inch will be perfect. the KE65XH81 is in my main room. TBH I thought the slightly newer 80J looked slightly different but I thought ovrall has a darker look and just thought there was a better colour range on the KE65XH81. Got some new speakers coming for that room too same day (Tuesday) I am looking forward to Tuesday 🙂
P.s I have to mention I do not understand why people want to play 1080P gaming? I am playing snowrunner with enhabnced graphics in 4K HDR and Atmos.. It just baffles me why so many people still play games in 1080P? I mean you would think gamers would want to play in higher reosolution? I don't get that. Yes I realise in this comparision the TV on the left is a 1080P TV so were comparing it with the 4K TV gaming in 1080P but TBH I notived a lot of gamers still talking about 1080P gaming. I suppose there must be something I am missing.
I’ve had that exact old model TV ever since it came out. I am just now getting an upgrade to the x80j for my 20th birthday next month. I’ve had it for about 10 years now, that’s about half my entire life, and it works just as fine as I got it! Never had any problems. I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t miss it. “It’s not you it’s me!”
Lol,that tv must be older than 10 years easily..those frames around the panel looks really thick and so on. I have SOny KDL46- HX 723 and it s made 11/ 2011. It is very slim (3 cm) and frames are much thinner.Picture quality is also quite good what comes to full hd televisoins but im looking alternative option to replace it. I dont need oled technology so decent led tv will do just fine…
I have my old (smaller)h.d , I think it’s 42 inch in my bedroom and the 50” xj80in the lounge. The remotes work on either also, so that’s a bonus and I wasn’t going to throw it out, it’s only 3/4 years (max) old. Peace

I have a 26" Samsung TV from 2012 and I'll be upgrading to a 43" Hisense model from this year
Cool

Sony TVs are durable
that tv was 720 I used to have it and replaced it later for the ex400 so I could have 1080p
Wait what sony x80j doesnt support 4k gaming on ps5????
This video I didn’t know I needed! Thanks!

CCFL based TVs were good. I had a 2010 LG recently booted it up. There is blooming here abd but color looks quite natural.

Why PS5 not supported 4k on x80j ?

I still use my 2007 Panasonic plasma (50"). It still looks great.

I have done exactly that but the H.D isn’t even Ten years old. It’s 32 inch and now resides in my bedroom and the X80J is my lounge tele.
I’m not getting rid of the old one, it works beautifully.
