I have the sony bravia 50x85k and some shadow is seen in the corners of the panel, this only happens in light colors especially in white, is this normal? Or is it a defect?
Are these tvs the KD85x80k and KD85x85k ??? Only $200 difference between the two, i wanted to buy the kd85x80k everywhere they say its a 120hz refresh rate tv, now im confused a bit 😳
Hi Steve, I bought 50" x80k my problem is the resolution it's only appear 1440p with 120hz on my xbox . My Xbox said your tv don't support 4k😢😢😢 , hope you can solve my problem 🙏🙏🙏
One thing I wanted to point out, the camera you're using to record the footage adjusts exposure to the brightest image in frame, meaning the x85k with the brighter panel looks better while the less brighter x80k looks worse. That's why the x80k looked way worse in the video than how you described it, so, what you were seeing was not what was captured by the camera. Otherwise, great video!
I think I'll go for the X80K. I prefer the "not so bright" of the X80K and it's better contrast. 120hz wont matter much for me I mostly watch movies not gaming.
Which would you recommend for TV viewing the X85K or the Samsung 85 class Q80BD series tv? Both are the same price at Costco, just not sure which one I should buy. Will not be using for gaming.
Is it just me or does the x85k look so bright to the point it washes out the colour and make the picture look unnatural? The x80k seems like it has more natural colours. Even tho the x80k is 60hz, that doesn't seem to be a factor here. 60 fps max on a game is more than sufficient to have a premium gaming experience, even though I don't have a ps5 or xbox, this won't matter to me anyways. I bought the x80k for watching TV and movies. We'll see how it fairs in my fairly bright living room.
Hey Techsteve… I just purchased X85K sony 85 inch. Under the display specs it says "Display Panel : LCD" kind of worrying me and curious to know if this is a LCD tv or LED.. Can you enlighten me ?
5:57 during the gaming test the clouds and sky on the X85K are blown out, almost blended together compared to the X80K, Similar to the dog scene earlier. I wonder if you calibrated both TV's and did the test again what would look better. My guess is the X85K would be more capable but is it worth the upgrade!
I remember you stating that you tested these TVs in the Cinema mode. I'm not sure if you still have these, but in case you wish to try them again, according to Rtings's pre-calibration color accuracy results, with both TVs in the Custom picture mode, Color Temperature set to Expert 1, and Gamma set to 0, the X85K's color accuracy scored a 9.0/10 with a white balance dE of 1.82 and a color dE of 1.05, while the X80K scored an 8.6/10 with a white balance dE of 2.02 and a color dE of 1.36.
I really appreciate your videos Steve. Not to be negative but both of these tvs look terrible and im not sure why they can’t get the balance correct between brightness and the contrast. One is super bright. One isn’t bright enough. I’m thinking Samsung might be the way to go .
Do you think i should get the x85k or or the lg qned 80 series? i need a 50 inch for my room that I will need to use for gaming(ps5 and pc) and watching 4k blurays and some hdr content. Ive been i balling the lg qned for the vibrant colors and because it has geforce now capabilities but the sony tv might work better for my ps5. Which do you recommend seeing as how they are both the same price for the 50 inch?
Watched this video at least three times before deciding which to buy.. bought the X85k 55 at the local Best Buy store after considering our needs.OLEDS are nice especially watching and comparing it at the store….im a little bit over budget for this TV but I’m upgrading from a Vizio 32 720p bought 10 years ago and man it was amazing so far, tech advance for all these years wow…Right on time for the Super Bowl…thank you Steve
Have a 55X850D and looking to upgrade. It is good at wide angles.
Have an L shape couch setup where each side is the same length. Currently setup with TV in corner of room, going to switch to one side of couch will be straight across, therefore other side will see it at an angle.
Looking at X80K X85K and others without breaking the bank.
Which TV do you think will work best for you? X85k (120Hz) or X80K (60Hz)

I currently use the x80K as my PC monitor in a 43". This is exactly what I was looking for…Thanks
Thanks Steve. I just purchased the X85K. Appreciate your info
X80 look fine, I liked. I don’t like the TV too light eh.
Cosa cambia dalla X80k alla X81k ?
I planned on the 80k and left with the 85k; it makes sense for the extra $200.
How do these go head to head with Rokus Newest Plus Series TV?
is sony 50x80k have IPS panal or VA
Thank you so much for this review. This was exactly the comparison I was looking for👌

Otherwise, great video!
will sony x80k 55'' get VRR support update?
That " Peace " sound at the end is so cringy..

Why the 4 corners of the X85K are pretty darkened out n the grey tests etc at the 2:10 timestamp?…It's kinda a deal breaker (in a bad way)

Thank you man for your work. Very nice and informative comparison!

What about sounds different

A terrible image that cannot be edited
To date, I’m seeing that both of those models are now both 120hz! Your thoughts ?
Of course 120hz 😂
what size are these? Im pretty sure everything but the 50" X80k is IPS

mixed bag, but x85k 43" price is close to LG C2 42" OLED's. Great comparison, thanks a lot!

Which one better for ps5
Wish TV you think has the best picture quality SAMSUNG 65" Class TU690T or Sony X80K?
Not sure which Tv to get under $600 but I’ll probably get the Sony x85k.Need it for gaming. Any recommendations? Or go for the X85k?
Does the x85 has hdr?
The x80k in 85" is 120hz right?
Thank you so much!!! 😊😊😊😊
I’m so confused. In the description of the tv it says it is 120hz…….
If you're recording a 120fps TV at 60fps the play back will be at 60… My phone and a lot of phones are 60fps … So this is all BS …

1st thing i noticed was the excellent video quality! Glad you upgraded your cameras
