Wait so no physical remote?
Just bought my Dad the 55 inch 4K version for $200. So far it's a great purchase for the price. Especially for him coming from an 1080p 43 inch tv.
I have a Chromecast dongle. Can I just plug that into an HDMI port on the tv and use it without having to create a Xumo account? Also, is this tv mountable on a wall?
I just ordered a 55inch Pioneer from BestBuy for 193 after tax but it was Black Friday deals. Anyways it's the same TV you have just a 55inch. I can't wait to see what it's like in person. Thank you!
Thanks, Tech Steve. Nice video presentation.
I found one online for $86.00 NEW never open
MAJOR QUESTION:
How does this TV compare to the Pioneer Kuro from 15 years ago? 🤔
Hi, which one would you get between this product vs Insignia F30 4K Fire TV
I purchased the 55" model from Bestbuy on cyber Monday for $179. The Xumo OS is adequate but limited in functionality. The overall picture is good. I then connected an Apple TV 4k and was blown away by the improved picture. It proves that the video processing and OS are critical for video playback. Dolby Vision (Bright mode) is spectacular using the Apple TV 4k. I noticed a big improvement using a Roku 4k unit but the Apple took it to the next level. Highly recommend the TV but get a Roku or Apple TV 4k to process the video signal.
how u do a video with how put on the stand aka the legs please
There is a way to fine tune the picture settings on the tv. I bought the 43” version last September and for 3 months I was able to customize the picture with the custom settings. But as Steve said there was no way to customize the pre-set picture settings. I always found myself trying to find that color pop every time I wanted to watch a program. I don’t know what happened but I was doing something in the settings and when I went to the picture settings it gave me the options of editing the pre-set settings. So when it’s on Vivid you press right on the cursor and it takes you to the customize menu and you can work it from there. It applies to all the picture settings. Now the tv looks awesome and am very happy with how it looks and I’m not fussing with it every single time I turn it on. I just wish I could remember what I did to activate those settings.
IPs?
HI TECH STEVE..QUESTION.. all i need is a tv thats cheap,32 inches, plays well..i'm old school, i don't need all the bells whistles – could care less about games/and too much sh__! This is t soooo confusing to me(i just got my first flat screen like 5 years ago…i just want a 'tv' that can give me a decent picture with older movies and to watch a football game here or there-..,something to hook my old vcr and dvd player too..and hear decent sound…. & something very easy to programme?….is this too much to ask for. i really don't need to see a rat peeing on cotton or 1mil mega bite image…its not that serious!..thanks ;O)
Just won this tv in a raffle!! Thank you 😁
Nice review! Best Buy is selling the 55” version right now for $199. I’m picking one up tomorrow.
UPDATE 2025: just wanted to inform you Steve that a recent update has been released which now DOES give you full control of each picture mode's settings (standard, sports, vivid, game, etc..) and a few other quality of life changes👍🏼
For new buyers to be aware
I really appreciate the input lag test.
i just bought my pioneer tv steve. seems like another steal of a deal from best buy to me. i had an insignia that accidently got taken to the dump so i was pretty depressed that i couldnt replace it with a tv i liked… then i found this pioneer. im in love i might buy another incase this one goes out, but i seriously think i got a good one from best buy because the best buy brands always seem to last a long time. my insignia was working great when it was taken to the dump at 17 years 🙁 but hell could this be the one i was looking for? i sure am enjoying my pioneer tv it plays my pandora, gets all my channels over dtv too – im in a metro area and get my 9 channels. i love the color of the tv. its SO nice!
Hello, would you recommend this or the Roku select series 4K…
When navigating through the menus and apps is this TV annoyingly sluggish?
Does it offer auto dimming
This tv work with mirroring like samsung or roku tv?? Trying to see the phone screen on the tv…
So you need a Xumo account just to change inputs? You can't do with the remote?
120hz ???
Wonderful video… New sub😊 …
Does this tv run android or another OS… I would like to know if i can download Android apps on this tv?
The fact that you're actually measuring the input lag sets you apart from soo many content creators in your space.
did you get to test input lag for gaming??
You are the best TV reviewer–appreciate the budget TV videos. Thanks for your content.
i got the tv its nice but I cant change the picture to 4:3 mode??
Anyone know if these will do 4:4:4 chroma at 4k 60hz? Also what is the panel type? IPS? It's hard to find specs on these. Kudos for the input lag test! 👍
How did the Apple TV do. Looking to get this for an indoor cycling setup.
I don’t really want live air I just want to watch videos on TV is that possible?
