I bought 2 TCL tvs and both spoilt within warranty period. I’m a super light user. It is a nightmare waiting for them to make good of their warranty where I’m still waiting after months! I have written emails to their company to no avail.
I am getting a QM8k version in Aus here that's called C8K for a difference of 150 USD more compared to QM7k or C7K.
Guessing am better off going the Qm8K way given it's got Bang & Olufsen speakers and subwoofer built in?
The huge elephant in the room is Hisense's continued poor choice of using and IPS ADS Pro panel in the 75", a size that's becoming more popular and no other size uses it in the Hisense lineup which says something. Plus, no reviewer has done a direct 75" comparison which I'm now wondering if Hisense is quietly pulling strings on availability of the 75" to testers to avoid a direct comparison to a 75" TCL and exposing the lower contrast. While I understand the IPS ADS Pro offers better off angle viewing, it does so at a sacrifice in overall picture quality over a VA panel. Until someone can prove there is no justified sacrifice in picture quality, This makes the TCL a more enticing option.
From what I'm seeing, the amount of Nits a TV packs in makes a huge world of difference.
Hi great review. Was wondering what's your opinion, should I get 85 inch qm8k or 98 inch qm7k, they are about the same price here in Romania. I mean it would be such a big difference in image quality? I'd rather go bigger. Thank you
Can someone help me understand this review I found on TCL website? I'm trying to decide if the $1000 price difference is worth it. Both TV's are on sale. The QM7K 98" is $2000.00 & the QM8K 98" is $3000.00.
Disappointed, very disappointed. Touted for its brightness, both SDR AND HDR, I expected this thing to be just that…bright. It’s not. Especially since it chooses picture modes based on format. Anything streamed in Dolby, the TV forces you to watch it in Dolby Vision…drastically reducing the brightness. Unlike previous TVs I’ve own (all Samsungs) where even if streamed in Dolby I can still override the picture settings and view in any setting I want, for example dynamic which is the brightest. This TV does not allow that, resulting in a dimmer and more washed out picture when viewing Dolby content. Unfortunately most Netflix and Apple TV content is streamed this way. TCL should consider an update changing this and allowing us to be able to choose any picture setting regardless of how the content is created and streamed…it is our TV and we should be able to view it the way WE want. SDR brightness is brighter, but still not what I was expecting….could be. Righter. When watching HDR content on YouTube that is made to show off brightness TV looks great, don’t get me wrong…but again….i think it could be brighter. My Samsung Q90T is just as bright if not brighter. For the money, I should have just went with a QM7K I don’t think the difference is worth it, unless TCL comes up with a big update that fixes its flaws. Dolby Vision brightness is terrible, and I should not be forced to watch content that way – even if the content creator intended it. It’s my TV I should be able to watch any way I want. TCL if you are listening….work on an update….we want more flexibility with picture settings regardless of content. If that update does end up happening I will gladly change my review.
Thanks, Tech Steve!
After checking out both, it seems the QM8K is maybe 5% better but cost 50% more than the QM7K.
You're not supposed to switch to HDR modes. If they movie or show is in HDR, it will automatically switch. If you force something to HDR and it's not mastered to HDR, it's going to look like 💩.
Im torn the 7K is cheaper and still has a decent picture better then decent for the size I want but 8K has brighter and picture is a step up but 75in is 2k right now. I can't justify that right now.
The QM7K does not have warmer tones. It has a yellow tint. It can be clearly seen in the skin tones group scene, when we look at the background.
I'm go for QM8K 65 in $1000 hahah but no $2000 for $2000 i will buy OLED LG or sony Samsung
Are these TVs good for gaming on a PS 5 ?
Tcl👍👍👍👍👍great review 👍
Damn, the "no border" display on the QM8K looks amazing when compared side by side with the QM7K. I always felt the borders on the 7 were already pretty slim, but compared to the 8, the looks like its just a floating screen, especially when it's wall mounted. Glad I went with the 65" QM8K and got it on the last day of the sale for $999.
I just got the QM7K for my mom and she loves it I got it from best buy while it was on sale I only paid $800 compared to the original price of $1500 so it was a steal
i am thinking of getting the 85 inch QM8K or the QM7K or U8QG i am torn i will be in a 12×12 foot room sitting about 6-8 feet away from TV there is no windows i also have about 3000 4K Blue Rays to watch i will be hooking up to a Sonos Arc Ultra / sub / rears any regrets with the QM8K ? i was going to go with 98 and 100 inch but it would be overkill 6-8 feet away i think plus its double the price for the extra 13 inches have a great day cheers all
Would you go last year’s QM8 or the QM7k? Both are the same price right now. Thanks
Qm8k is much much better
Did you mess with this video? QM7K looks like it’s for the bin! I honestly thought half my phone screen was broken.
The 8K looks better to me.
The natural tone is important
I kinda like this 8k, but am leaning more toward the LG C5.
I avoid logging-in (setting up) the google login. Running my own local dns server I discovered how much google tracks everything. I setup an Apple TV on input 1 and set that as default. Tech is about trade-offs. If you are ok with them tracking everything, in return google provides lots of free services. Most of which survive.
Just bought 98qm8k and didnt get true my apartment ٫Too big and didnt try unpack TV and try again.Too damn shame
Thanks for the in depth review
Convinced me the Qm8k is the right one for me
object vs Better object ahh comparison
Why the audio on QM7K sounds way better??? 🤔
Any idea what is the reference for Europe for these 2 TV's? Struggling to find the equivalents. Any help would be greatly appreciated 👍
