Google TV is making a huge change starting August 2026: all new apps must be 64-bit only. That means faster apps ⚡, smoother streaming 🎬, and quicker start-up times ⏱ — but it could also mean some of your favourite apps stop working if developers don’t update them.
In this video, I break down:
✅ Why Google TV is switching to 64-bit
✅ How this update affects NVIDIA Shield, Chromecast, and other Google TV devices
✅ The benefits (speed, smoother performance)
✅ The risks (apps breaking or disappearing)
✅ What you should watch for as the 2026 deadline approaches
This move finally puts Google TV on the same level as Apple TV 4K, which has been fully 64-bit for years. But the big question is: will developers update their apps in time?
👉 Do you notice lag on your Google TV or Shield today — or is it already smooth enough? Drop a comment, I want to hear your experience!

Thanks for the information beautiful Tanya🙂🫶🏾♥️
Love the new look
Would 64 bit apps function on a device that doesn't have 64 but software is serious question needed to be asked here or would a device upgrade in 64 but format be the next move?
Thanks Tanya for the info.
❤❤❤👍👍
Do that mean I will lose my apps if they are not upgraded
Thanks for all the info you give out. And on another note. I love your new hairstyle!❤
looking great
As long as it doesnt bother previous downloaded apps on older 32 then thats fine otherwise 32 would be a waste of money once its stops working…
Thank you beautiful 😍
